Irina’s role is to help you become more effective in navigating your life experiences and relationship and creating the life you want. Irina created Touchstone Psychology with the goal of helping people thrive and enjoy meaningful and lasting relationships with themselves and others.
Irina’s stance is authentic, collaborative, empathetic, and holistic, and your work with her is a dynamic conversation that brings healing and growth. She is thoughtful and listen deeply for your strengths as well as the factors that keep you stuck. Honoring possible good reasons for the stuck places, she helps you release and move through them. She honors and appreciates the diversity of identities and backgrounds and strive to provide a safe space for you to feel seen and understood.
Irina has extensive experience in different approaches to psychotherapy and am most grounded in the Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) model. She is a certified EFT Therapist and Supervisor and serves as a board member and the Vice President of the New York Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy. Her interventions draw upon attachment science, evidence-based methods, as well as contemplative practices.
Katya helps you build awareness of the behaviors and emotions that might be leaving you feeling stuck, meets you with curiosity and compassion, and facilitates healing for a radically improved life. Her warm, empathic, and genuine presence creates a safe and welcoming space for your therapeutic journey to unfold.
Katya received her Masters of Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from Our Lady of The Lake University. She completed a one year internship at the Michael E. Debakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas where she worked with military veterans and their partners to help them navigate the effects of trauma, anxiety, and depression on their relationships, while helping them build richer, more meaningful connections with one another and themselves.
Katya has trained in various evidence-based modalities such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) as well as postmodern practices like Narrative Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy.
Katya brings her background in the performing arts into the therapy space, exploring the ways that emotion gets stored in the body. Her approach is collaborative and client-centered, firmly grounded in a foundation of safety and trust. As an immigrant, cultural humility is embedded into Katya’s practice and she strives to continuously learn from and honor each person’s rich life experiences.

Empathetically, she will help you identify and have compassion for what happens in your body, mind, emotions and relationships. You will learn and experience (in session and out) ways to repair and relate that create new neural pathways and build true, enduring connection and security.
